ABOUT

Our beloved mother is in desperate need of a kidney

Our beloved mother and matriarch, Mehry, suffers from End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) due to a genetic condition called Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) and is in desperate need of kidney transplant. PKD affects both kidneys leading to complete kidney failure and eventually dialysis. As no one in our family qualifies to donate because of this genetic anomaly, we are pleading with the world to help find a living donor for our mom.

She is a fighter, a kind/gentle soul and has been the rock throughout our lives. She instilled many values in her children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews including love, kindness, helping others and forgiveness.

We need your help with sharing her story and helping find a living donor for mom.  All potential living donors are evaluated, and all expenses are covered. Please contact us at (424) 256-5125 for more information.

Our Plea for Help

We need your help with sharing her story and helping find a living donor for mom.  A kidney transplant will restore her health and will allow our mom to live a normal life, help others and travel the world.

Most people have two healthy kidneys but can live a normal, healthy life with only one kidney. However, in patients with PKD BOTH kidneys shut down.

All potential living donors are evaluated. If a willing donor is not an exact match for our mom, they can still donate through an arrangement called “Paired Kidney Donation” where two donors swap kidneys to match the intended recipient. The National Kidney Registry has facilitated more than 5,000 such matching transplants.

Mehrys' Story

Born in 1945, she led a simple life and excelled at her studies. At age 15, she left her family moving to the big city with her older brother to continue their studies and a year later she met our father, the love of her life whom she married happily for 55 years mothering four children, two girls and two boys. In 1979, she was forced to uproot and migrate her four children to Israel while our father stayed behind, ultimately immigrating to the United States where she struggled to raise a family till our father could join us in Los Angeles. She is a grandmother to six wonderful grandchildren and a sister to five living siblings. Sadly, she lost her oldest brother and best friend in March 2020 due to complications from PKD.

Throughout her life, she has sacrificed to help and support her family and friends. While raising her own four children, she also helped raise her nieces and nephews who immigrated to Los Angeles as well. Tough as nails, she endured and never complained about the difficulties they faced throughout the years. As her beloved husband’s health deteriorated, she took it upon herself to nurse him and became his primary caretaker. He suffered from Dementia and she was the only one capable of keeping him calm. He always called her his existence, and he loved her with all that he was. She gave up so much to keep him healthy and fighting on. Sadly, in 2014, she was forced to say her last goodbye to her love.

After our father passed away, we began to learn the depth of our mother’s ferocity. At age 68 she was diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease, requiring quadruple bypass surgery. The surgery put a toll on her body, causing her to become weaker.

About Her Interests

She loves cooking for her family, especially for her grandchildren. She enjoys watching the various food channels to come up with new recipes for her family.  Nothing gives her more pleasure than spending time with her family and seeing her grandchildren grow up.
She enjoys traveling, whether domestically or internationally, she enjoys broadening her horizons and seeing how other cultures live and thrive. Her love of life is infectious and endearing. However, she is now in a race against time and desperately needs a lifesaving kidney transplant.
